The Volvo Ocean Race Festival continues for the rest of the week, and this evening, there was a fireworks display over Galway Bay. At 7pm this evening, the city was lashed with torrential rain, but by 9, the sky had cleared to give way to a beautiful summer evening. The fireworks were launched from the causeway linking Mutton Island to South Park, and there was a huge crowd of people lined along the shoreline, all the way from Nimmo’s Pier to Salthill Promenade. Here is a short timelapse video of the fireworks show – the fireworks only last 8 minutes so the timelapse is very short (it was still a spectacular show).
The ‘blobs’ that appear in the bottom of the video are my nephews, who, despite having a couple of miles of shoreline to stand on, still managed to block the camera occasionally.
