There has been flurries of snow and sleet in the west today, but nothing that has lasted too long, and the temperature is forecast to rise by the weekend. Nevertheless, it was bitterly cold on Salthill Promenade tonight in Galway, and there were very few people braving the cold on the beach or down at the diving board this evening (this picture was taken about 10pm).
