Apparitions

For a while today, it looked like Mayo would beat Kerry to advance to their 6th All-Ireland Football Final in 13 years. Alas, it was not to be – the match resulted in a draw and will be replayed next weekend. It is now 66 years since Mayo won an All-Ireland and it might take some divine intervention if it is to happen this year. As it happens, tomorrow is the 138th anniversary of the Marian apparition at Knock in Co. Mayo. And if your life isn’t illuminated by the prospect of a Mayo win or any other miracle, perhaps you can light up your life with an electric bust of the Virgin Mary (available in 2 sizes in Knock). The photo was taken back in 2004, a couple of months after Mayo’s first defeat this century – the prices might have gone up since.
