From the top of Purple mountain in Kerry last October, I could see a large flock of sheep passing up and down the Gap of Dunloe throughout the day, mainly in single file. There didn’t seem to be much rhyme or reason to their wanderings – they are sheep, after all – but their determination to follow one behind the other remained strong. It is possible that there were sheepdogs guiding them that I couldn’t see – the photo was taken with a large zoom lens. This picture was taken late in the day as they retraced their journey from the morning.
