Jumping the shark

On the way back from Inishbofin on the ferry, the boat suddenly cut power and veered off track. The crew had spotted a basking shark, and maneuvered the boat over to it so the passengers could get a better look. Basking sharks are both huge and harmless [unless you are plankton] and this one looked to be at least 3/4 metres long. A few minutes late, the crew spotted two more, and the boat chugged over to them for a better look. As it happens, there has been  an increase in sightings. Here is a video of what the sharks look like under the surface.
