Millipede

macro-2

The surface of part of my garden is covered with wood bark, and there are hundreds of of these little guys scurrying about amidst the wood chips. When disturbed, their defence posture is to curl up into a ball – I use the same posture when my wife suggests doing housework.

In real life, this millipede is about 2 centimetres long, and this picture was taken with a 180 mm macro telephoto lens in natural light.
