The leaves of the bramble (blackberry) are rather vivid and beautiful as they emerge. As they grow, the scarlet fringes  will disappear as the leaves turn green. Later, white flowers will emerge, and once fertilised, those white blossoms will transform into shiny blackberries – a favourite Autumn treat for foragers (like me). As the berries disappear, so will the leaves, and the scarlet will return, as the leaves turn vivid yellow and then red again before fading away in winter. And the following spring, it will all begin again.
