While standing in the rain, I noticed this water meter cover near my house. We never did get water charges in this country , but we do have thousands of water meters buried underground. Turns out Wabash, Indiana has a proud history of making water meters, but it’s not their most famous export. That would be Crystal Gayle.
And if you’re wondering how her sister could record an album called Blue Kentucky Girl, it’s because Loretta Lynn was born there. Her father later moved to Wabash where Loretta’s younger sister, Brenda Gail Webb (Crystal’s real name) was born.
