The Axis of Weevil

I struggle to tell the difference between one type of weevil from another. This one is either a Green Leaf Weevil or a Green Nettle Weevil (I think!). Close-up, it’s a beauty. I have a single rose plant in my front garden which is shaded by a tree. The tree branches, and the rose, were moving in a breeze, and sunlight was dappling through the branches and catching the rose blossom occasionally. It was difficult to keep the insect in focus (and the eye of the weevil in the picture above isn’t perfectly sharp), but the light looked great, and highlighted the fantastic colour of the weevil’s torso.
