The Empire Strikes Back

The lone supporter

Last year, Tipperary beat Kilkenny in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final, preventing “The Cats” from winning 5 titles in a row. Today, in a repeat of last year’s final, Kilkenny avenged that defeat. In their semifinal, they beat Waterford, who had previously beat Galway at the end of July. On that day, there was a country fair in Mountbellew, east Galway  and despite the rare good weather  and the huge amount of exhibitions outside, one man found a working TV in the cattle market and watched his county’s defeat there. Picture shows that fan watching Waterford’s manager being interviewed after the match.
