There has been high winds and lots of waves washing up along Salthill Promenade over the weekend as a result of Hurricane Katia in the mid-Atlantic. Luckily, the strongest winds did not coincide with the highest tides, so flooding was minimized (apart from this car park in Salthill this morning). The rough seas didn’t discourage many swimmers either, though it was a bit tricky to get out once one had jumped in [the swimmers had to avoid being washed up against the diving board walkway or the surrounding rocks ]. I’ll post a bit more later in the week, but here is a series of pictures of a swimmer getting another splashing on his way out of the water [taken with a Canon 40D set for high-speed shooting]
