The Galway Food Festival

This goose is cooked !

Just before Xmas, when I was out taking pictures, I bumped into a college classmate who was heading down to Neachtains for some pre-Xmas drinks. Did I want to come, she asked.
I did, but I had a goose in the oven at home and had to get home to take it out. That’s not a reason I’ve ever had to give before to miss going for drinks, but it was true.
I love cooking, even though I would not consider myself a great cook. No matter – there will be plenty of great cooks – and more importantly, great food – in Galway this weekend at the inaugural Galway Food Festival. It began yesterday but with few events. This was a mark of respect to those marking Good Friday by guzzling all the booze that they had panic-bought on Holy Thursday evening.

The real festival starts today – I plan to eat myself into a coma over the weekend.
