A flock of brent geese flying towards Lough Corrib at sunrise, having spent the night roosting at a turlough a couple of miles from the lake. There were hundreds of geese at the turlough making an unholy racket at dawn – they even managed to drown out the Whooper swans. The sound and sight of migrating birds returning to winter in Ireland is a sure sign of the approaching year’s end.
What a fantastic shot! I can only imagine the sound.
