Ain’t no mountain high enough

Picture shows the trail to Carrauntoohil, starting from Cronin’s Yard. Carrauntoohil is the snow-covered peak in the centre, with the Hag’s Tooth to the right.

A group of GAA stars climbed the highest mountain in Ireland last Friday in aid of charity. Players and representatives carried All-Ireland GAA medals from each county on the island to the summit of Carrauntoohil. Luckily, they had great hiking weather. It’s been three years since I climbed that mountain, and I hope I am still able to climb it if I reach the age of 83, which is precisely what Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh did last Friday. There’s a full report from the Irish Independent here, and on the RTE Player here.
