The Celtic Explorer and Celtic Voyager moored in Galway harbour during Seafest earlier this year.

It’s been a busy few weeks up north for the ships of the Irish Marine Institute. The Celtic Explorer has just completed a groundfish survey off the north coast, as part of Ireland’s obligations under the Common Fisheries Policy (according to Afloat.ie). It’s sister ship – the Celtic Voyager – was also off the shore of Donegal, installing a tsunameter (according to the Donegal News). The key quote in the Donegal News article (from Sarah Donne, one of the scientists involved) :-

Don’t expect a tsunami off the Donegal coast any time soon but we can never say never

If you want to know what the ships will be doing next, the Marine Institute have their schedules posted online here.
