Members of the Galway Walking club pausing for a short break near the summit of Leenaun Hill on Sunday afternoon. It was cold but sunny and clear – about as much as you could hope for on a late February day in Connemara.

This is what the group looked like when they were facing the sun. There was a little snow near the summit – the snow line seemed to be around 600 metres. It meant that, since the the ground was partially frozen, it was a bit firmer than usual. In contrast to my last hike on Leenaun Hill five weeks ago, there wasn’t a puff of wind to be felt, even at the top. All in all, a great day out.
