The Argentinian sailing ship, the Libertad, visited Dublin last weekend. It is a mighty-looking ship, and it visited Galway nine years ago. Here are some pictures from that visit, back in the summer of 2007.

the sheer size of the Libertad can be judged by the much smaller sailboat passing by.

I used to live in the reddish-coloured apartment building visible directly under the yellow & black flag, so I could see the ship from my kitchen (which is where I took the pictures of the ship leaving, below).

The rigging was so large that you could see it clearly over the pile of scrap metal waiting for collection in the Docks.
