When I was in Manhattan 2 weeks ago, I went to Tompkins Park (in the East Village) for what I hoped would be a fun photo-opportunity. Alas, the event was postponed until the Sunday due to rain and I wasn’t around to attend.
The event was the Annual Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade and when I got there, it turned out that some dog owners had not heard about the cancellation either, so I got a few snaps. The park was the first in the US to have a dog run (basically an enclosed part of the park that only dogs and their owners can access). Now it has two – one for dogs and one for those small balls of fluff pretending to be small dogs.
However, thanks to Flickr, you can see lots of pictures of the parade on a crisp sunny autumn day in New York. We really need something like this in Galway (actually, I’d settle for the sunny day).
My Flickr gallery of the Tompkins Square Park Dog Parade is here – other pictures (of the actual parade) are here. This is my favourite pic. If you want to see pictures of humans on parade, see here (warning – there are hundreds of pics here).
I’m going to be on planes for almost every minute of Tuesday – by the time I get near a TV again, we’ll all know who the next top dog in the US will be.
hey! I was in Boston and saw the Dog parade there! too funny! only in america!
