The dogfish is a type of shark common in Ireland, and I’ve often noticed discarded ones at quays around the west of Ireland, just like the one pictured above. I don’t think I’ve ever seen dogfish (also called rock salmon) advertised on a menu in a restaurant in Galway. Mainly, they are used as bait, though there is a recipe for braised dogfish on the Aga cooker website. The Galway Atlantaquaria also has a dogfish if you want to see a live one in the flesh.
