On a rare sunny May day last year, I was walking along the shoreline at Doorus (near Kinvara). To the north, across Galway Bay, shimmered the spires of Galway – seen in the picture above behind Eddy Island. The spires, from right to left, are from St Nicholas’ church, the quad in NUIG and the biggest one is the cathedral. A crane is also visible – part of the current NUIG construction work – it has recently been taken down.
