According to their website, the Irish Coastguard can expect to handle around 2,000 marine emergencies, helping 3,500 people and saving 180 lives in a typical year. The Coastguard helicopter pictured above has just taken off from the University College Hospital in Galway early this morning – it is a regular visitor.
