A stand of ash trees in Rusheen Bay park in Salthill, Galway. This patterns on the bark of the trees is caused by the lichen Pyrenula chlorospila (see close-up below). I was able to identify the lichen using the Irish Lichen website – an amazing online resource compiled by Jenny Seawright.
