There was a cold snap in Ireland in the first half of December, with temperatures continuously below zero for around a week, even in Galway. My garden pond froze over and the ice was so thick that I could stand on it. I’m not sure how the creatures in the pond have fared, and there is surely going to be further frosty periods before spring arrives. With the pond frozen, the birds that call regularly to the garden had nowhere to drink or bather. Luckily, I had a plan. Here is the video of what I did.
