Stendahl syndrome refers to the phenomen of being overcome by great beauty, named after the eponymous artist’s reaction to the cutural works he witnessed in Florence. I managed to avoid a dose of the flutters when I visited Florence some year ago, but I did get some sense of Stendahl’s reaction when I visited the Burren last Saturday. The place seemed impossibly beautiful, and I’ll post a few pictures over the next few days.
