My greenhouse survived Storm Hannah unscathed – the wind didn’t seem particularly strong in the city (though it was very wild in Connemara). As you can see, other storms have been less kind to my shed. Over time, storms have destroyed or ‘disappeared’ most of the roof panes, to be replaced with whatever was lying about (using my less than stellar DIY skills). The stained glass panels came from the windows on either side of my former front door. Inside the greenhouse, my Dad helped me to create a framework of shelves which the frame of the greenhouse is now attached.

Like Trigger’s Broom, there’s isn’t much of the original left, and I’m probably only a a storm or two away from having effectively built my own greenhouse from scratch (albeit in installments).

It’s nearly May so, barring a Wizard of Oz-level event, the greenhouse should get me to autumn at least, without the need for further ‘enhancements’.
