In the United States, a full moon in February is called a snow moon because February is generally the month of most snowfall. There was both a full moon and lunar eclipse on Friday night, and a clear sky to see them over Galway. I got the dates mixed up so missed the eclipse – it was a partial eclipse and I haven’t seen any images on the web taken from Ireland yet. The full moon looked beautiful as it set over Galway city yesterday morning. The picture above shows a seagull passing in front of the moon as it sank behind the rooftops of Mill Street (relative to where I was standing). The image below shows the moon in the background on Upper Dominick Street in Galway.
