The Galway Hookers moored in the Eglington Canal Basin by the Claddagh in Galway have been a must-see attraction during the lockdowns over the last few months or so. The iconic profile of the sail boats silhouetted against the dawn sky, and reflected in the often mirror-still canal water, lifts the spirits of anyone around to witness it. Since before Christmas, the boats have been illuminated, so that they present an even more attractive sight at night. For the national day that’s in it, the lighting set-up was updated on one of the boats, to reflect the national flag.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone.
