Status of horse and jockey under a full moon at Dartfield Horse Museum near Loughrea in Galway. Picture taken in 2007.
A horse produces around 30lbs of manure per day. A nervous horse, such as one in unfamiliar surroundings and in a crowded space, usually produces said manure at great velocity and over a fair old distance. More than 3,000 rather excited horses will turn up this weekend in Ballinasloe (not necessarily by choice) as part of the 2012 Ballinasloe Horse Fair, coating the town in 40 tons of horse poo.
It’s not as bad as it seems – as every gardener knows, horse manure is excellent for growing roses, and the number of roses that you could grow with 40 tons of horse muck would nearly produce enough fragrance to blot out the smell of the manure. Nearly.
Wow, I thought that was from the US at first.
Great capture.
