Two of the Volvo Ocean Racers sailing in Galway Bay this afternoon, passing a Galway Hooker sailing back to Galway harbour. That’s the Burren in the background.
Today was almost too perfect. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and there was just enough wind for good sailing. The wild meadow on Gentian Hill was a perfect place for a picnic and to view the Volvo Ocean racing boats manouevre around Galway Bay. I’m writing this with the tingle of sunburn on my neck – I took today as a holiday, so spent most of the day out in the sun Salthill Prom in th emorning for breakfast, a spot of gardening at home in Knocknacarra in the afternoon and evening overlooking Silver Strand. Half the country will probably turn up in Salthill tomorrow, and why not?
the hooker looks so much nicer, alive, movement, not a big bit of plastic and sail.
