Wish I was here

The Galway Walking Club (of which I have been a little-seen member for the last 18 months) are going back to Kerry for the May Bank Holiday for a full weekend of hiking and drinking lemonade. Well, hiking anyway. We were there for the October Bank Holiday weekend in 2012, and it was a game of two halves. The first day was brilliant sunshine and great views from Mount Brandon on the Dingle peninsula – I took the above picture on my way to the summit. The following day, the wet weather came in and, after some fruitless wandering around the mist-covered top of Mount Eagle near Ventry, we gave up and concentrated on the social aspects of the weekend instead.

Alas, this year, I won’t be able to make it to Kerry – my academic studies of the last two years come to a conclusion around the same time, so I’ll be lucky to find the time to walk the Prom in Salthill over the weekend, let alone the beautiful hills of Kerry.  But next year….
