The NUIG Mountaineering Club has announced their 2010 Maumturk Challenge for Easter Saturday [April 3rd].I have no intention of doing it again, but it is one of those days in Connemara that everyone should try once [if only to warn others]. Picture above is from our climb to Corcóg on January 3rd this year. The hills in the background include Mweelrea, the Sheefrys and, in the distance, Maamtrasna.
As you can see, there is a clear line below which no snow lingered. Between 250 and 300 metres, the snow and frost was intermittent. Above 300 metres, the snow was solid.
