The taste of wild garlic

Wild Garlic in Galway
We cooked cod for dinner this evening. It had been slathered in a wild garlic pesto which gave it a gentle savoury flavour and was quite delicious. Wild garlic or ransom [allium ursinum] is in full bloom in Menlo Woods at the moment – the picture above shows a hoverfly feeding on pollen from a ransom blossom.

Picture taken with a Canon 40D fitted with an 180mm Sigma macro lens which means I don’t have to get too close to the bugs to photograph them. Pictures of previous trips to Menlo Woods here and here.
