Snow clouds rolling over County Roscommon on Monday evening. By early yesterday morning, snow was covering large stretches of east Galway and Roscommon.
On Monday, Galway city was a sunny if cold place unlike Dublin, where there were heavy snowfalls. By that evening, the snow began to spread west. Yesterday evening, snow was falling from the Shannon to the Corrib. A sharp frost was predicted for last night, though – as I write this [on Tuesday evening] – the snow had turned to slush here in Galway.

It will take more than some fluffy bits of snow to stop Irish Rail’s new trains, which was just as well for me, since I was 60 miles from home when the snow began to fall.
