There has been a new addition to the flock of swans that gather near the Claddagh in Galway. If it had hoped to join the group unnoticed, then it overlooked a small detail. Black swans are native to Australia, but this didn’t have to fly that far. According to the Connacht Tribune, neither Dublin Zoo nor Fota Wildlfe Park are missing a bird from their flocks of black swans. Perhaps it has fled Britain after the Brexit vote.
A pair of black swans beside the Imperial Palace Park in Tokyo, photographed in early April, 1995. Probably taken with an Olympus OM-10 SLR fitted with a 28mm lens (back when that’s what people called a wide-angle lens).
