It was fairly quiet in Carrick-on-Shannon at 8am this morning before daybreak. Though there wasn’t many people on the streets at that time, the traffic crossing the bridge over the Shannon was busy – it is the week before Christmas, after all. There was a little bit of traffic under the bridge too – the rowers were up early, as usual, and had set off along the river by sunrise.
