Members of the Galway Walking club, eschewing the mineral bar in the Lough Inagh Lodge again.
Don’t let the seemingly bright sky fool you. It was after sunset when we posed for this picture in the garden of the Lough Inagh Lodge Hotel on Saturday night, and the light was fading. We’d just descended from the Maumturks (behind the hotel) and, as any hiker knows, the very best beer is the one you have straight after a hike (the subsequent ones were too bad either, mind).
It’s our second outing to the Lodge, though I can’t believe it’s a year and a half since our last visit (we posed for a similar photo last Autumn). Even though there were less of us staying on the Lodge this year, almost 80 members of the Galway Walking Club turned out on the following day, to mark the last walking or hiking day of the year. Though there were four different walks on the Sunday, they all converged on Powers pub in Oughterard for mince pies and yes, even more pints.
P.S. The Lough Inagh Lodge is pet-friendly, and at least two couples had brought their dogs last weekend. Check out this video from the hotel.
