Clonfert

Clonfert Cathedral
Legend has it that St Brendan voyaged across the sea from Ireland to the New World back in the early sixth century (summarised here) Along the way, he had many adventures and saw many strange things. It is unlikely that the winds that filled the sails of his boat, nore the sights he saw, were as terrifying as the tornado that swept through Clonfert in early October last year, felling trees and even knocking over some of the headstones in the graveyard pictured above.

The infrared image above (taken long before the tornado) shows the church and graveyard in Clonfert, where St Brendan is said to be buried.
