A pair of ducks take flight at Rahasane turlough in east Galway.
It’s a tricky thing knowing when to flee or when to stay. Flee too often, and energy is wasted, and feeding is curtailed. Don’t flee often enough and…well, that only happens once. Rahasane turlough, the largest seasonal lake in the country, in east Galway is beginning to fill, and already thousands of birds are feeding there. The sounds of shots meant at least one hunter was lurking along the water’s edge too, which means that the ducks won’t take any chances.
