Fishermen on rocks by the shore at Spiddal, Co. Galway.
It was a beautiful, balmy evening when I drove through Spiddal last week. In the 30 or 40 seconds it took me to pull in, park the car and retrieve my tripod from the boot of the car, the moon had begun to disappear behind cloud.
It really was that dark when I took the picture – modern cameras can practically take pictures in the dark these days – it would be very difficult to shoot this with film.
Camera = Canon 5D, lens = 100-400m@ 400, ISO = 1000, aperture = f6.3, speed = 1/10 , tripod = Manfrotto with pistol-grip head.
