In Memorium

The centenary of the Titanic disaster prompted many towns and villages in Ireland to commemorate those who had hoped to emigrate to a new life in America, but never made it. A stone bench in Mohill, Co. Leitrim commemorates one local casualty – Matthew Sadlier. The ship collided with an iceberg at this moment 105 years ago – it would sink within three hours, killing Matthew and over 1500 others.
