These starlings have more entitlement to my house than I do. They were born and raised here (in a nest under the eaves) and still use the chimney as their perch of choice most days. I’ve started leaving out food on the back lawn so the starlings show up every day for lunch. There’s a rotary clothesline in the lawn , which is folded up for the winter, and the birds use it for a perch. It’s also a handy spot to line up portrait shots of the starlings, and capture their wonderful plumage.
