Back in April, I planted some cabbages to attract butterflies. The cabbages are doing fine, and so far, I’m the only one that’s eaten any ofof the leaves. Instead, the Large White (aka Cabbage White butterfly) have targetted the nasturtiums growing in the garden. I didn’t actually plant them – they produce lots of seeds, and the few flowers that grew last year have basically seeded the entire garden. It is amazing how fast the caterpillars eat – they can strip a nasturtium leaf in minutes (though they usually pause for a snooze straight afterwards. As the video above shows, they like the flowers too.
