This morning, I took some pictures around Galway at the same places as I took pictures when the city closed down during the snowstorm exactly a year ago. In contrast to the cold spell last year, the last week or so has been unusually mild. However, many parts of the country did experience snow this afternoon today, though Galway was spared.Well, spared is probably not the right word, since instead, we got 2 days of torrential rain. Despite the recent deluge, it’s been a fairly dry winter. My daily commute along the M6 motorway over the Suck and Shannon rivers highlights the lack of rain – the floodplains alongside both rivers remained distinctly unflooded this winter.
