Unfortunately, the first planned hike of the Galway Walking club had to be cancelled yesterday due to the high winds. We’d planned to hike in the Twelve Bens, and yesterday really wasn’t the day to hike there. On a better day, there is no better place to be than the Bens, and the picture above was taken there last April, when my wife and I took a day off and hiked from Derryclare to Bencorrbeg.

Just a month later, with the club, we hiked from the Western Bens to Ben Corr on a fabulous summer day.

I didn’t hike that much in the Maumturks this year, but I did manage to get out in November, to scout a loop of the Northern Turks that I will lead later in the Spring for the club.

I didn’t get out on the hills very often last year, so I guess one of my New Year’s resolutions is to do more hiking in 2022.
