It’s been a while – too long, really – since I was out walking in the Maamturks in Connemara. Yesterday was freezing, with a vicious wind blowing across the peaks. The combination of frost and high winds caused beautiful patterns of icicles and frost to form on rocks, grass and even fencing wire. There is a gallery with some more images here.
John,
Just an observation on the gallery itself: You forgot to change the detail cell colour to white. It’s still default grey…
The ice on the fences looks bizarre!
Incredible and beautiful images
Hello John.
I just want to thank you for taking and sharing your pictures. These ones are beautiful and I am glad you were there to take them. Some day I will walk those mountains myself and stop staring at them from the ground.
Happy new year.
Luciano
These photos are incredible! I’ve never seen anything like it. The ice on the fence is amazing.
WOW…one can certainly tell which way the wind did blow on that particular day…
Neat captures. Hope you had a hot whiskey or Sandeman waiting at the end of that trek…
Hi John,
Some very wired images of the frost alright. I was over in Westport the last couple of days and the wind was very strong indeed. Sunrise, with 20-30 seconds shutter speeds in that wind was impossible but made for some interesting images.
