Wild strawberries growing in Monasset, Rahugh, Co. Westmeath.
It’s been forty six years since I first snacked on wild strawberries growing in the hedgerows on our farm in Rahugh, Co. Westmeath, and I’m sure previous generations of Smyths did the same in previous decades and perhaps even centuries. Wild strawberries smell and taste much like the strawberries you’d find in a supermarket. You might be able to spot the one significant difference – you need to eat an awful lot of them if you’re hungry.
