A common green grasshopper (Omocestus viridulus) photographed in Lough Rusheen Park last month. The park has a considerable amount of wild meadow which is full of grasshoppers right now. However, it looks like I was the first one to record a grasshopper this year in the biodiversity database (and upload the picture above for future reference). Remember, even if you just record the critters that you find in your back garden to the database, you are contributing to the overall amount of scientific knowledge about the biodiversity of the country.
