Common Lizard


Can you see it ? I was walking along the boardwalk of the Western Way by Lough Corrib yesterday, when I spotted some movement ahead. It was a juvenile Common Lizard (it is by the grass that overhangs the board between the 5th and 6th staple on the righthand side).

It’s the only lizard (Zootoca vivipara) that I have definitively seen this year (I’ve spotted some things moving in the grass that might have been lizards, but couldn’t confirm). You can see that it is very small – it could probably wriggle through the staple in the picture above.
