When I was growing up, a trip in a tractor wasn’t a comfortable journey – even if the tractor had a cab, it was noisy, cold and not much fun. These days, farming contractors drive huge rigs, and I know of at least one groom this year that drove his bride to the wedding reception in such a tractor.
Driving through Dunmore in north Galway yesterday, there was a couple getting married and outside the church was a fine looking tractor appropriately decorated for the occasion.
As is the tradition, there were were plenty of signs put up by the neighbours with wedding wishes for the wedding couple, and even a bit of health and safety advice for their next tractor ride together.
