Under the outstretched boughs of a huge oak in south Galway, I was scrabbling about amongst the piles of leaves looking for acorns last Saturday when a rather lethargic frog hopped into view. It was probably settling into hibernation – it had emerged from under a fallen branch that was covered with fallen leaves. It only moved that one time, and though gently nudged it a couple of times, it didn’t move any further, so I left it be. It should be well settled into its winter sleep by now.
Sleepy frogs are easy to photograph!
